Understanding your NDIS plan: a plain-language starting point
An NDIS plan can feel like a lot to take in when you first receive it. At its heart it is a document that describes your goals and the funded supports meant to help you reach them. Reading it slowly, one section at a time, makes it far less overwhelming.
Start with the goals section. These are your goals in your words, and every support in the plan should trace back to one of them. If a goal no longer reflects what matters to you, that is worth raising at your next plan review.
Next look at how your funding is grouped. Core supports help with everyday activities. Capacity building supports help you develop skills and independence. Capital supports cover things like equipment. Knowing which bucket a support sits in helps you understand what it can be used for.
You do not have to work all of this out alone. A good provider will sit down with you, walk through the plan, and help you turn the funding into real supports that fit your week. If any of this feels unclear, reach out and we will talk it through with you.
